WebJul 9, 2010 · To solve those I have to do yet another head gasket, LIMG replacement. That should solve the problem with the transmission. The PCM uses the MAPS sensor to help it on both the fuel trim and when to shift the transmission, with the reading off from the leak this would explain why the transmission does not shift until you back off the accelerator. A Webi should have said, if you turn off the o/d , get to 45 mph and turn it back on it will drop right in but driving normal with the over drive on it will never drop in unless you ease off the gas , you also hear a whirring sound when it is down shifting with your foot off the gas, it almost sounds like a turbo charger whine
